It’s was a busy weekend here at the campground! Lots of guests come in with their horses, looking forward to spending time on the trails and celebrating the new year with friends and family!
The horses came in all sorts of shapes and sizes and breeds, but one thing they all had in common: they were all beautiful!
One young boy however, had some unexpected excitement!
While he was on his horse, it decided to rear up on its hind legs!
He cried out to make his family aware of what was happening, and his mother flew to the rescue! Handling the young horse with confidence and skill, she got her boy to safety. However, the young horse was not through being feisty!
She mounted the horse and as she continued to deal with its attitude, it was clear the horse was not having it and kept trying to nip at her legs.
It was obvious though, that she was used to handling a temperamental horse and was quickly adept at getting the horse to settle down.
In the background, the boy stood nearby, physically upset at what had just happened… but his aunt who was with them, told him that she was proud of the way he handled the situation. He wanted to know what she meant and she told him that he now holds the title of best cowboy on earth, and that he should be proud and feel very good about how he handled the situation by holding on and not letting the horse get the better of him!
Through his sobs, you could hear him say, “I didn’t know what to do, I just held on for dear life!”
Between you and me, I say kudos to this young aspiring cowboy! I think he did very well in such a scary situation! Lord knows I would have been thrown off and had to change my underwear!
Happy New Years everyone!
Until next time,
Peace, love and safe travels!
