For years now, I have been dreaming of getting back to a traditional homestead… One where I can grow and raise my own food… However, for now, I am relegated to our small campsite that we call home and a garden that is 4×4 feet in size.
While I am committed to making it work, I find myself referring to that old saying about best laid plans… “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”
In other words, no matter how carefully we plan a project, a goal, or a dream, something can still go wrong that thwarts our best laid plans!
Although nothing has actually gone wrong, we have had to postpone planting our seeds in the garden!
Regrettably, the temps are still going to be pretty low overnight for the next week to ten days. Therefore we are putting off planting until the overnight temps warm up above freezing!
As a result, I have had to adapt my ‘work schedule’ a bit and consider other projects I can do that’ll keep myself busy while I wait.
However, all my projects seem to focus around our little square-foot garden…
So, as I’ve pondered what to do next, I’ve decided to focus on the kitchen area of our little homestead on wheels.
Assessing our ‘kitchen’ floor, I’ve noticed the vinyl where I stand to cook and do dishes has started to crack. Thankfully, a fellow RVer has generously given me some leftover tiles from one of their projects.
Since I can’t work in my garden, I can at least take care of our home! This should take an hour or two, if that… And when that’s done, I can always do a thorough spring clean!
Until next time,
Peace, love and safe travels!
