Driving On Sand is Like…

Here in the south, you will find lots of sand!

Not only is it at the beach, it’s everywhere! Even the roads at the campground are packed sand! Well, almost all of them!

Guess who found the one area of loose sand – and guess who got stuck!

Thankfully, my vehicle comes with 4-wheel drive!

Once I realized I was stuck, I flipped it into 4-wheel drive and followed the same principles as when I’d get stuck in the snow back home!

I kept rocking the vehicle back and forth until I felt one of the wheels had found solid ground and turned into it…

It took a few minutes, but eventually I was able to get my truck out of the loose sand and unto solid road!

My little adventure became the talk of the campground. I even impressed a few people, having been able to get ‘unstuck’ without having to be pulled out!

And it’s not so different after a rain…

The roadway becomes softer… almost like driving on packed snow… you know, after it starts snowing, and the snowplow has yet to clear the roads… sort of like that!

However, there is a big difference! It doesn’t get so cold in the south… at least not yet!

Since having dealt with driving on sand, I have come to realize one thing – I’m thankful for having learned to drive in the snow!

Sand and snow – it’s almost the same thing! Just not so cold!

Until next time,

Peace, love and safe travels!
