Some people just don’t understand…
Recently, I was talking with someone who was curious about our lifestyle…
It soon became evident that she thought we were homeless and started treating us very differently… as if she were better than us, and also pitying us… she even went as far as to give me a phone number to a local womans shelter!
I was offended!
We are houseless, not homeless!
I work for a living… I have a home… my home just happens to be on wheels!
I simply choose to travel from job to job as openings in campgrounds arise! And, I take all the comforts of home with me wherever I go!
It sure beats staying in hotels everywhere, or staying in the same place all the time!
Yet while I was offended by her words and actions, I did not react as I was feeling!
Our conversation reminded me of how our friends and family reacted when we decided to leave the city to live on a farm!
They didn’t understand our desire to grow and raise our own food!
It’s the same way with our choice to live on the open road!
People just don’t understand our desire to travel!
Not everybody gets it… and that’s okay!
I don’t always understand other peoples choices!
We walk to the beat of a different drum!
It’s what makes us unique and interesting as people!
Until next time,
Peace, love and safe travels
